1. Overview of Revit Families

In Revit, all elements are organized into Families, which are further classified into Typesand Instances:

• Families: Groups of elements with a common set of properties and a related graphical representation.

• Types: Variations within a family that share the same set of properties.

• Instances: Individual placements of a type in the project.

Revit families are divided into two main categories:

• System Families

• Loadable Families
